Taxis and Transportation

Arriving.  Upon arrival at either Charles De Gaulle or Orly airports, you can take the Air France "Cars" to either the bus terminal at Invalides on the Left Bank or to l'Étoile on the Right Bank.  The price per person, one-way, is about 10 €.  In either case, you will need to find a taxi to take you the remainder of the way to your hotel or apartment.  This ride, typically, costs about 8- to 10 €, depending upon your location.  A taxi from either airport to the center of Paris is about 35- to 45 € ($50 - $65.).  Unless you love hassling with your luggage, it is far easier just to take a taxi from the airport to where you are staying.

The RER also runs from both airports to Paris.  It is not a great idea to be on the RER with your luggage and handbags flapping the wind.  We do not suggest taking the RER unless you are in the center of Paris or going to Versailles.

Getting around Paris on the Métro or bus is quite easy.  See the section on «Métro» for fares and weekly passes.  We prefer the bus as you can see Paris while getting from one place to another.

Returning. To return to the airport or to a train station, you can call the airport service of «Taxis Bleus» at 01.49.36.66.66.  Supposedly they speak English, but we don't believe it.  The taxi will come to your door at the time that you specify.  Usually, the taxi's meter it at about 6- to 8€ when it arrives.  The service is very reliable.  Our friend, Lisa Graeber recommends «TaxiG7» at 01.41.27.66.99.  This service speaks English and takes credit cards. "Mr. Sam" has particularly good English and can be reached at 06.23.99.60.68.  We use Joseph at Cab Car Service.  He speaks excellent English and is organized and on time.  Téléphone: (06) 11 32 83 01 / (06) 11 60 21 96.
